The Arbeiterkammer Bibliothek and Stadtbibliothek have launched a video streaming service ‘filmfriend’ (Links – AK and Stadtbibliothek) as part of their digital library services. Library users can view 3,500 feature and short films, documentaries, series, international arthouse cinema, comedies or dramas. It’s an eclectic collection – think festival award winning European films rather than your average hollywood Netflix / Amazon!

Films can be streamed on TV devices with an app for Android TV, Fire TV and Apple TV or via ChromeCast. Alternatively, they can be viewed on a PC/Mac, tablet or smartphone via the internet browser. Downloads and offline use is possible with the “filmfriend Austria” app for Apple iOS and Android mobile devices.

It’s free to register for a library card either on-line with the AK (you need to upload a copy of your Meldezettel) or you can register in person in the library at Hanuschgasse 3, 8020 Graz. A library card with the Stadtbibliothek costs €15 – more details here.
