Restaurants

Here are some of my favourite places to eat in Graz

International

Kunsthaus Cafe is part of the modern art Kunsthaus museum and has a cozy eclectic atmosphere. In spring & summer there is an outdoor patio. For lunch they have a couple of daily specials for €6 – €7,

Die Scherbe has shabby hipster vibe in the trendy Lendplatz area. They have a set menu and several daily specials. In summer they have an outdoor garden seating area.

Cafe Cultural Exchange near Jakominiplatz is run by community focused international team. They offer one daily dish plus wraps and salad. They also have a bike shop and offer fun events often in English such movie evenings and bike repair workshops.

Freiblick Tagescafe on the top floor of the Kastner & Öhler department offers lovely views of the Schlossberg and has a great rooftop terrace in summer (good vantage point for Graz photos).

Le Schnurrbart is a small creperie near Karmeliterplatz. It has a large garden across the street in the summer (good for letting kids run around while you eat).

Das Purberg is next to the Hilmteich and offers stylish dining & cafe in a beautiful old buiding overlooking the lake. It also share a space with the most pretty flower and interior design store – the Lederleitner.

Austrian

Aiola upstairs on top of Schlossberg next to the clocktower, has a lovely view over the rooftops of Graz. Inside and outside seating with a modern style Austrian cooking.

Glöckl Bräu is where I take all our visitors too. It’s very traditional homestyle cooking in a pretty square right beneath the famous Glockenspiel clock.

Vegetarian & Vegan

Mangolds has two branches in Graz – one is near the Kunsthaus and has a self serve buffet with hot dishes and salads (you pay by the weight of your plate). There is a big sit down area with a cozy kids corner. You can also take your food to go. The other is by the university and offers a proper menu service (which changes daily). It has a modern cozy decor.

Ginko near Jakominiplatz, also has a buffet style set up (paying by the weight of your plate) and cozy eating area. It can get busy during lunch hours. They also serve food to go. They also run the Greenhouse Cafe , in an alley off Herrandgasse, where you can get healthy bowls, smoothies and salads.

Parks is a fairtrade organic cafe near the university with a daily changing menu. Very popular with students.

Cafe Erde is a nice vegan restaurant with a changing menu near
Andreas-Hofer-Platz.
