Looking to do some shopping or drink a coffee in peace without the kids? Here are some free or very cheap places which offer supervised childcare between 3 – 10/12 years for an hour or three!

Remember to bring socks for your kids. Also these are popular places to have birthday parties as they will organise everything for you.

Many also let in under 3’s with a parent on weekday mornings but check to see times allowed (you are usually not allowed to stay with kids over three due to space issues).

Centerwest shopping center’s Jungleland is an older playcenter but has good climbing area, playhouse, crafts etc. Free for up 3 hours.

CityPark shopping center’s Spieburg has a castle theme and lots of room to run around and play for €3 hour.

MurPark shopping center’s Planet Lollipop was recently renovated and has a great modern play & climbing area (this is my kids favourite place!). Also pods where they can climb into and listen to books on headpones. It’s 4 euros per hour. (Bring your kids e-card on the first visit to verify their age)

Shopping Nord’s center has farm themed Spielefarm with giant slide and ball pit. This indoor play area is NOT supervised and may be closed due to birthday parties (you can check the calendar on their website before visiting).

Shopping City Seiersberg has Löwenland, also with a big play & climbing area and one of the longest indoor slides in Austria! 2,80/hour up to 4 hours.

Ikea’s Smaland has ball area, crafts, and movie corner. Free for up to 2 hours but is often full on weekends.

The furniture stores Leiner and xxLutz also have playareas (unsupervised) where you can sit at the nearby cafe and watch your kids play.

The Afritschgarten adventure playground in Lend offers free supervised play for kids 6 – 14 yrs Wednesday – Friday 14.00 – 18.00, and first Saturday of the month (winter hours) and every Saturday (April – October). f It’s not your typical playground, but more of an urban garden with ‘junk’ but kids are encouraged to build, climb and play. They often offer special themes such as wood working, cooking, ball games etc.

STADT.OASE at Tummelplatz also offers supervised care for kids 8 – 13 years, weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings with a cool hangout area, football and air hockey tables.
