GUST mobil is a great new service offering subsidised taxis for the Platte, Hafnerstraße & Katzelbach /Wetzelsdorf suburbs of Graz. These areas are hard to reach by public transport and too hilly in parts to use a bike so residents and visitors have to reply on private cars. Also there are some lovely walks in these areas so this a super way to get there if you don’t have a car!

There are 201 virtual stops and you can book a shared taxi to take you between any of the stops within each area. Several of the stops also connect with the bus & tram system. The service is available 365 days a year from 05:00 – 24:00 (24 – 31 Dec 05:00 – 17:00). Fares depend on the length of the journey and the number of people travelling.

You can see detailed maps of each area and all the stops on their website or you can use their interactive app ISTmobil to calculate the distance and price for your journey. Booking is simple – either through the app or by phone 0123 500 44 11. You need to reserve your journey at least 60 minutes beforehand, you will need to know the numbers of the two stops you wish to travel between, how many people will be travelling and if you have any luggage, stroller etc. You do not need an account and can pay in cash, but you can also register for an account and for a mobilcard to make things easier and have automatic payments.

FYI – You can only travel between two stops in one region e.g the Platte. Nor is it allowed to travel between two stops which both connect to public transport.
I have heard good things about this service and look forward to exploring these areas more. For example Stoffbauer on the Platte is a nice restaurant with a pretty outdoor seating area and good views, plus several good walks nearby.
