If you are looking for a gentle hike with amazing views, the Plankogel loop is a great option. It’s in the Almenland region – a beautiful area of alpine countryside about 50 mins from Graz. This is a 6.5 km hike, only 200 meters climbing elevation and took us about 2 hours at a steady space. It would be a good hike for kids too. The path goes first through the forest, then opens up to beautiful views, before gently climbing up into alpine meadows. You can take a detour to the top of the peak for a great 360 panoramic view. At the end you return to the car park where you’ll also find the pretty Stoakoglhütte. Perfect for relaxing afterwards in the sunshine with a drink.
