Another great hike in the wine country in Südsteiermark. Close to Gamlitz this circular hike leads you through multiple vineyards, woods and along quiet roads with beautiful views all along the way. There is one section on a busy road but it’s short. There are a lot of up and down climbs so good shoes and reasonable fitness is required. The hike is 10.5 km and about 3.5 hours.

Eckberg-Steinbach-Ratsch Weg Nr. 6 

A good starting point is at the parking lot opposite Eckbergerhof (there is a sign saying hiking parking is allowed). Then follow the well-signed number 6 route the whole way (ignore signs for 6a/b unless you want to do a shorter route). There are multiple buschenschanks along the way, plus a pretty orchard with a basket offering free apples for hikers during apple season. There are also several pretty picnic places with self-service wine, juices and water kiosks.
