Learning German in Graz

My favourite place to learn German is at Seddwell Learning. They offer weekly A1/2, B1/2 and B2/C1 classes depending on demand. Classes are very small, and Sabine is a great teacher who makes learning German fun! She personalises every class for us. It’s also great value at only €5 a class (1.5 hrs) for Seddwell members and €10 for non members. First class is free to try out.

Seddwell learning also offers a drop in German conversation class with Breakfast on Wednesday mornings 8:00 – 8:45 am (€5 members / €10 non members)

The Frauenservice at Lendplatz offers two free German conversations groups for women- beginners Thursday 9.15 to 11.00 and more advanced Tuesdays 13.00 to 14.30 (except for school holidays).

Nowa also offers a free German conversation class for women Tuesdays twice a month 9.30 -11.00.

Urania offers affordable German classes (you need to join as a member first).

VHS (Volkshochschule) also offers good value German classes (mostly evenings). And if you or your spouse works for a company in Styria you will most likely receive a €60 Bildungsscheck which you can put towards the cost of a class.

Caritas also offers very affordable intensive German classes for third country nationals with resident permits ( i.e. non Europeans) and refugees.

The International Women’s Association have also put together a useful guide to language schools in Graz. .

I also recommend finding a tandem partner as a great way to practice and improve your German. Seddwell Learning can help find you a partner. Tandem Graz Facebook group can also be a good place to find someone. Or ask around friends, many Austrians are keen to practice their English or other languages.
